This 5 oz Jar of Campden Tablets (Sodium Metabisulfite) contains approximately 250 easy-to-use compressed tablets, a trusted additive for both winemaking and brewing. Campden tablets are commonly used to sanitize must, stabilize wine before fermentation, and prevent unwanted microbial growth.
In winemaking, adding 1 tablet per gallon of must yields approximately 75 ppm total sulfur dioxide. Tablets should be crushed into powder before use for proper mixing.
Campden tablets are also used by brewers to treat brewing water, effectively removing chlorine or chloramine that can cause off-flavors in beer.
